Closed Loop Fashion participated in last month’s Global Fashion Agenda Summit, held in Copenhagen from May 21-23. This year’s event marked the 15th anniversary of the Summit, centered around the theme “Unlocking The Next Level.” The theme acknowledged the fashion industry’s evolution while maintaining a focus on near-term goals.
This year’s Summit organized multiple strategic roundtable meetings with selected groups of executives, policy makers, industry leaders, and sustainability experts. They came together to discuss important sustainability issues and plan actionable steps. Closed Loop Fashion had the honor of joining several closed-door leadership roundtables, where key decision-makers from both the public and private sectors exchanged views, leading to actionable outcomes.
Since the National Circular Fashion Partnership Programs in the dedicated country are about to commence shortly, the leadership roundtables served the purpose of bringing together a variety of stakeholders, including brands, recyclers, manufacturers, logistic partners, and government agencies, to discuss and strategize into the specific requirements and anticipated outcomes for all stakeholders involved in participating countries.
The first roundtable, co-hosted by GIZ and the H&M Foundation, discussed Scaling Circular Textiles Systems in Cambodia and Vietnam. The second roundtable, hosted by the H&M Foundation, focused on establishing a Circular Textile System in Indonesia. Additionally, Closed Loop Fashion’s founder, Marina Chahboune, attended a Global Circular Fashion Forum (GCFF) Steering Committee meeting.
During the Cambodia-Vietnam roundtable, the focus was on textile waste management and the establishment of recycling infrastructure with a detailed exploration of what these initiatives could entail. In the Indonesia roundtable, the Indonesian Ambassador to Denmark attended and expressed robust backing for the project’s launch in Indonesia. The session encompassed a wide array of topics, particularly emphasizing logistics and the development of circular supply chains within the archipelago.
