Organized by Circle Economy (CE) in collaboration with program partners, the event welcomed 10 speakers, 51 participants, and 27 students and junior academic staff, including representatives from brands participating in CFP Indonesia, manufacturers across various tiers, the national lead Rantai Tekstil Lestari (RTL) and the project implementation partners Reverse Resources (RR) and Closed Loop Fashion (CLF). Two of our team members joined the Training of Trainers programme and supported with an input session on post-industrial textile waste management . The primary objective was to build local capacity by equipping participants with the tools and knowledge to deliver circular training within their respective organizations and networks.
The event focused on intensive learning sessions. Participants were introduced to the core principles of circular economy, explored circular design strategies that emphasize longevity and recyclability, and received practical guidance on textile waste handling, sorting techniques, and recycling technologies. These sessions offered a mix of theoretical context and hands-on understanding, tailored specifically to the Indonesian textile landscape.

In addition to the core training, the agenda featured key presentations from program partners. Reverse Resources shared a detailed analysis of textile waste flows in Indonesia, helping participants understand the complexities of material leakage and traceability within the value chain. Closed Loop Fashion presented findings from its Textile Waste Ecosystem Mapping and Waste Management Standard Assessment, offering practical inputs on waste management for manufacturers, including procedures for handling, sorting, labelling and storing waste in their facilities.
One of the most engaging moments of the event came from a local waste handler , one of our key partners for waste aggregation. Typically excluded from formal industry events, the inclusion of a waste management voice added a rare and valuable perspective. The presentation sparked thoughtful discussion and strengthened participants’ understanding of the operational realities, opportunities and challenges that waste handlers face.
The Training of Trainers event marked a key milestone for CFP Indonesia, bringing together an energetic and collaborative group committed to advancing circular solutions in the textile sector. Through active discussions and problem-solving, participants helped lay the groundwork for a growing network of trained facilitators, driving forward the localisation of circular economy principles in Indonesia.
