Closed Loop Fashion supports Fashion For Good, a global initiative focused on promoting and accelerating sustainable and circular practices in the fashion industry. Closed Loop Fashion is involved in the initial stages of scouting and screening potential strategic supplier partners in Indonesia for the Strategic Supplier Initiative, a program designed by Fashion For Good aimed to help brands’ strategic suppliers implement market-ready technologies to advance innovation, circularity and sustainability in the textile manufacturing tiers.
Fashion For Good supports and scales sustainable fashion startups and technologies through its accelerator and scaling programs. Since 2017, they have scouted 2,887 innovators, supported 159 of them directly, and facilitated over 326 pilots, resulting in 180 commercial implementations addressing water usage, carbon emissions, and textile waste. They are now expanding to Indonesia as the first South-East Asian country for the Manufacturing Markets Gateway (MMG) Phase II for which Closed Loop Fashion has been selected as supporting partner to scout, screen and matchmake innovators with local key manufacturers with two different focus targets:
1. Strategic Supplier Initiative: Implementing textile processing machinery and dyes
2. Feedstock Partnership Project: Enabling access to feedstock for textile to textile recycling
The Strategic Supplier Initiative is crucial for integrating sustainable practices at the supply chain level, ensuring that innovations are not just conceptual but actionable and impactful. By providing strategic suppliers with advanced machinery and sustainable dyeing processes, the program aims to reduce the environmental footprint of textile processing significantly. Additionally, facilitating access to feedstock for textile-to-textile recycling helps create a closed-loop system where waste materials are repurposed into new products, drastically reducing landfill waste and resource use. By supporting these efforts, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable and circular textile industry in Indonesia.
Within the scope of this project, Closed Loop Fashion facilitated Fashion For Good and key recycling innovators Ambercycle, Blocktexx, and Infinited Fiber to come to Indonesia for a 1-week on-site visit. The goal was to build network collaboration and partnerships with local manufacturers. During this visit, they visited the factories of five local manufacturers.
