The Circular Fashion Partnership (CFP) was launched in Cambodia as part of a growing regional effort to accelerate circularity in the textile and garment sector. As part of the Global Circular Fashion Forum (GCFF) umbrella, led by Global Fashion Agenda, this initiative builds on successful implementations in Bangladesh and Indonesia, with additional expansion underway in Vietnam. Closed Loop Fashion is supporting the Cambodia phase by co-developing and delivering targeted strategies that reflect local industry realities and global sustainability goals.
In Cambodia, the CFP will work directly with manufacturing facilities through a structured capacity-building programme focused on reducing textile waste and keeping materials in use. By fostering collaboration across the value chain, the project aims to create scalable models that support a just transition toward circular production systems in the region.
The Circular Fashion Partnership Cambodia is a collaborative programme designed to promote circularity within the fashion industry. Funded by the H&M Foundation, key consortium partners include Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) as the Programmes Lead, Reverse Resources (RR), Circle Economy (CE) and Closed Loop Fashion (CLF) as implementation partners, alongside local stakeholders in Cambodia. This project will also be supported by GIZ Fabric as the National Partner, contributing additional funding to help broaden the scope of activities to up to 50-80 local factories in total.
Closed Loop Fashion will take on the same responsibilities as in the Circular Fashion Partnership (CFP) Indonesia, including conducting textile waste management assessments at project partner factories, developing Corrective Action Plans, and providing ongoing support to the facilities. This support will focus on implementing and building capacity for standardized textile waste management practices, helping factories establish internal systems to monitor and manage waste effectively, and ultimately improving accessibility of waste for recycling.
The initiative aims to unite manufacturers, brands, governments, recyclers, and waste aggregators to tackle textile waste, promote recycling, and enable closed-loop material cycles. The project focuses on waste flow traceability, the establishment of Textile Waste Management Assessments, and tailored waste management system implementation, along with capacity building efforts.
By harnessing the expertise of implementation partners, these national Circular Fashion Partnerships seek to build a more circular fashion industry through applied implementation activities on the ground, knowledge-sharing, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and industry mobilisation. The launch in Cambodia marks a significant milestone, which builds on the success of last year’s Textile Waste Improvement Programme for Circularity (WIP4C) in Cambodia for which Closed Loop Fashion had conducted Textile waste management assessments in 21 garment and textile factories, providing a platform to build upon these successes and scale our impact even further.
