On November 29, 2023, Evermos – an Indonesian social commerce platform that supports and empowers local entrepreneurs – hosted a lively event called “Story of Us Chapter – Sustainable solutions for utilizing textile waste,” where industry representatives gathered to address environmental challenges centered around waste in the textile sector. The event took place at the Birla Cellulose Studio in Bandung, the capital of the textile industry in Indonesia, with a focus on adopting circular economy principles to enhance the sustainability of textile production in the country.
Our founder, Marina Chahboune, and Intan Anggita Pratiwie, the co-founder of Setali Indonesia, were invited to share their expertise and discussed their journey in waste management through different reuse possibilities such as upcycling, recycling and more efficient resource use, emphasizing the necessity to reconsider the design of products, textile production and to promote sustainable practices.
The main goal of the event was to inspire local fashion brands to embrace circular economy concepts. By altering our approach to making, using, and recycling textiles, the event aimed to inspire the industry toward a greener and more eco-friendly future.

This event wasn’t merely a forum for discussion; it served as a catalyst for change. The conversations encouraged the audience to envision a future where sustainability and innovation work hand in hand. The hope is that the impact of this event will extend beyond the venue, inspiring more individuals in the Indonesian textile industry to join the movement for a responsible and eco-conscious approach.
