A visit to PURE LOOP: Advancing Polyester Textile Recycling Solutions Together

  • News at CLF
Closed Loop Fashion, together with our partner Nizam, recently visited PURE LOOP, a subsidiary of the EREMA Group in Austria, to investigate scalable solutions for recycling textile and plastic waste generated from the production of humanitarian aid items, such as blankets and tents. This collaboration builds upon previous successful pilot trials, utilizing PURE LOOP's advanced recycling technology to promote the creation of sustainable blankets and disaster relief tents.

Closed Loop Fashion and our partner H. NIZAM DIN & SONS (Private) LIMITED (Nizam) recently traveled to Austria to visit PURE LOOP, a member of the EREMA Group. This trip was a crucial step in our shared mission to expand circular solutions for humanitarian aid products and beyond.

EREMA Group is a world leader in plastic recycling technology, known for its groundbreaking innovations that make efficient, high-quality recycling possible. Within EREMA Group, PURE LOOP specialises in advanced shredding and recycling systems for plastic materials, as well as textiles. Their flagship technology, the ISEC evo series, offers exceptional versatility in recycling production waste, transforming it into high-quality pellets that can be used again in manufacturing. This system is well suited to effectively manage the complexities of textile waste, making it an ideal partner for our circularity initiatives.

We had the chance to see PURE LOOP’s cutting-edge recycling machinery in action and discuss how it could be used to scale circular solutions for humanitarian aid products. We observed three processing lines up close, discussing their nuanced differences and exploring suitable configurations tailored to post-industrial materials. This collaboration builds upon our multi-year  partnership with Nizam, which has resulted in two successful pilot projects for optimising resource efficiency and circularity in, disaster relief blankets and tents. Both initiatives demonstrate the feasibility of circular approaches in humanitarian relief products, paving the way for the next phase of development.

This visit marks a key milestone in our journey toward enabling circular supply chains in the humanitarian aid sector and beyond. We extend our sincere thanks to Nizam and especially to PURE LOOP for the incredible collaboration and support.
